Inverness is mainly a residential community in West Marin. Tourism has been the main industry for the area since its beginnings and supports a number of hotels, inns, restaurants and gift shops. It is still a popular getaway with plenty of outdoor activities for the whole family.

This comprehensive college prep program serves the N.W. part of Marin.
The school maintains a science lab, a small theater, gymnasium, a band room, newly remodeled library with computers, an art studio, a weather station, tennis courts and sports fields.
The school offers special programs in marine and environmental sciences in conjunction with scientists at the Tomales Learning Center, located on the high school campus.
