New energy standards may cost you money
Monday, February 6th, 2006California’s Title 24, regulates residential energy efficiency standards for lighting, water heaters, roofing, heating and air conditioning to name a few. This law was recently revised in October 2005.
What does this mean to you or what has changed for Marin County homeowners? Let’s say you were to add a new heater, then you may also be required to repair or replace your heating ducs, but the real cost may well be in the required compliance audit. Another example, if you were to change the lighting in your bathroom, kitchen or any other room in your house approximately 50% of the new lighting would need to be flourescent. This is measured by wattage and the end result is most of your lighting will be incandescent.
There are a number of other factors, therefore remember to do your research before diving into a remodel project. Here is a link with detailed information http://www.energy.ca.gov/title24/
